WHITE FOOTED HOUSE ANT
While there are 1000s of species of ants in NZ, the White Footed House ant is the most common pest ant in Auckland homes.
The White footed house ant arrived in New Zealand in 1962, in Nelson in a pot plant. Since then they have spread around the country.
This ant likes to live inside man made structures, examples are walls, window frames, ceiling spaces and sometimes under houses too.
Its likes its nests to be warm, so often it's found in the North and Western sides of the house.
They have a unique but annoying trait of dumping dead ants away from their nests. Its actually their house keeping. Customers find this annoying as they can make a mess in their homes example on beds / kitchen benches.
This ant makes 70% of the nest's food itself, so it doesn't bait well.

- Medium sized black ant. Lives in walls and trails outside to feed on sap/ honeysuckle from plants
- Baiting this ant results in the ants becoming visible smaller.
- Bait only reduces the older forging ants and never damages the nest or Queen (s).
- The nest then sends out younger and smaller ants
SPRAY FREE INTERIOR
Spray FREE interior. Reduces your family and pets exposure to chemicals
Customers often ask how are you treating an ant that inside the house with an exterior treatment? The answer is in the properties of the exterior products. They all have a delay in their mode of action. This delay in their action allows the ants to take the chemicals into the nest/colony. Also it helps us to target the Queen (s). Why target the Queen (s)? Having this goal allows for longer ant free time for our customers. Once the Queen has perished the colony dies. This is the end of this nest/colony and it may be many months, and some cases years before the ants can make a return, it at all.
Best Practice technique
ACES pest control's technique for ants is the best practice . We have a modern technique for ant control.
We attended the NPMA conference's lecture on the management of Ant Super Colonies. Super colony nests are sometimes larger than an average home! The course was by the top ant expert in the USA Dr Robert Puckett
We were delighted to find that Dr Puckett confirmed that the products we use are the best for ant control. It was also reassuring to find that we use the same technique as Dr Puckett too!
The NPMA course confirmed our technique is the best practice.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Depending on how large your home or business is will affect the time of treatment. An average three bedroom single level home will take 40-60 minutes ( estimate).
CHILD FRIENDLY PRODUCTS
Are the chemicals Baby safe? Pet safe? Child safe? Family safe? These are frequent questions from customers. All our chemicals used for ants are low toxicity to humans and their pets. We only use chemicals from reputable companies that researched and discovered these chemicals.
ANT TREATMENTS - HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
Some of the chemicals we use are long acting. However once the colony is dead the chemicals become redundant.
As a result of the colony being controlled customers tell us they are ant free for many months and some for many years!

DIY pest control is fraught with problems. The White footed house ant baits poorly. Unfortunately you are wasting your money with bait by itself with this ant. You will only reduce the older foraging ants and never harm the nest or the Queen.
