ARGENTINE ANT EXTERMINATION
While there are 1000s of species one of the most aggressive is the Argentine ant.
The argentine ant looks for warm and dry conditions in your property. As a result the are commonly found under weed mats in gardens, retaining walls and pot plants to name a few places.
These areas all have in common that are warm and dry.
- The Argentine ant. A brown medium sized ant, all the same size.
- They can trail for long distances and are great climbers.
- Mostly they nest outside.
- They bite! These can be felt as a small nip. The bites turn into small red inflamed bites.
How do you treat Argentine ants?
The technique for controlling Argentine ants is to find their nests in and around your home or business. Then to match them with a species specific bait. And finally to use products which transfer into the colony and quickly kill the Queen (s). While some of the products work slowly, customers advise that the ants are diminished within the first 7 days.
ACES pest control attended and passed Dr Puckett's course on Ant Super Colonies at the NPMA meeting. Dr Puckett covered Argentine ants among other species of ant that are present in the USA.
