pest control Albany
What type of pests are in Albany?
Albany's local expert pest controller is ACES pest control. In the summer months you will find mostly the insect and spider pests ( ants, bed bugs, borer, cockroaches, fleas, flies, spiders and wasps).
The wasp season starts in December each year and mostly its people finishing the year and getting out in the garden or use their spa pool, only to find a nasty surprise from some unwelcome squatters that have moved in. Depending on the weather patterns, the fly season can start in late November and run past February. Fleas are mostly constant throughout the years, with spiders peak in spring as they make a mess of peoples houses with their silk. If you have German cockroach infestation during summer it will get larger due to it being warmer. Mostly German cockroaches are year round as they hitch hike from one persons house to the next.
In the cooler months you'll find the the rodents making an appearance such as rats and mice. Mice are the first to invade peoples homes as they feel the cold due to their small size. Rats follow in the winter months, with mostly roof rats invading your home from trees touching your roofline. Sewer rats live in burrows in the ground, but when the burrow isn't too far from your home, yes you guessed it they sometimes just move on in. Gisborne cockroaches are most commonly a pest in winter. Why? As they sense their environment by temperatures, and when your home cools down, they mistakenly march right on in. Much to some peoples horror!
Albany local pest control expert is ACES pest control . (Māori: Ōkahukura) is one of the northernmost suburbs of the contiguous Auckland metropolitan area in New Zealand. It is located to the north of the Waitematā Harbour, 15 kilometres (9 mi) northwest of the Auckland city centre. The suburb is in the Albany ward, one of the thirteen administrative divisions of Auckland Council. Much of the land to the north of Albany is still semi-rural.
The Māori name for the area was Okahukura (literally, 'place of rainbows' or 'place of butterflies'). The town was originally known as Lucas Creek. By 1890 it was a fruit-growing area and in that year it was renamed 'Albany' after the fruit-growing district called 'Albany' in Australia, pronounced with a short 'a' as in Albert. The name Albany derives from Alba (Gaelic for Scotland) and its Latinisation.
Considerable housing development has also taken place since the early 1990s, which has been facilitated by the extension of the Northern Motorway through the area. There are upscale properties; one large property (318 sq m) on 2ha of land, with a six-bedroom three-bathroom five-car garage house with a pool and solar-powered stable for horses including a "hoof soaking path" cost approximately $1.5 million in 2006. In 2005, the rent for a two-bedroom apartment (part of a four-bedroom house with a two-car garage) was $300 per week.
Albany has one of the Auckland Region's newest sports facilities, North Harbour Stadium. It draws 25,000 spectators to games and is home to North Harbour rugby team in the ITM Cup and occasionally hosts Super 15 matches of the Blues. It was also a stadium used in the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Albany has a gymnasium where New Zealand taekwondo Olympic representatives Logan Campbell and Robin Cheong trained in 2008 under the guidance of their coach Grandmaster Jin Keun Oh. It has a tennis park. Rugby teams practice regularly.
FAQS PESTS IN ALBANY
Pest control FAQS- Frequently asked questions for Albany
Q: ANTS, WHAT PREPARATION IS REQUIRED FOR AN ALBANY ANT TREATMENT?
A: Nothing. No preparation treatment. You do not need to leave the house.
Q: ANTS, CAN SOME ANTS EAT THE WOOD MY ALBANY HOME?
A: No. None of NZs pest ant species eat wood.
Q: ANTS: FOR AN ANT TREATMENT HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO BE OUT OF MY ALBANY HOUSE?
A: You don't. We don't do interior spray for ants. You can be there while we do the job.
Q: BEES: IN A STRUCTURE
A: Once bees are inside a structure e.g., a wall they cannot be recovered. Even the Bee association advises they need to be destroyed. If left for some time they will make honeycomb and honey. The honey has a strong pungent odour and will attract more bees in the future. Once they have started making honey you may need to enlist the services of a builder to get inside the structure and remove the honeycomb. Otherwise, new nests of bees will be attracted to smell of the honey.
Q: BEES: OUTSIDE A STRUCTURE (BEE BALL)
A: In spring young vigorous queens leave beehives and take some of the bees with them. They are looking for a suitable place for a new nest. They can form a bee ball. This is where the bees hold onto each other and form a ball of bees. Commonly the ball of bees is suspended from a tree. They are only there for a short time. The good news is that they can be rescued. Call the Bee Association and they will send around a local beekeeper to rehome them. Happy ending for all concerned.
