PEST CONTROL AUCKLAND RATS

Pest control rat problem in Auckland? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Whether it’s rats or mice, these pesky critters are sneaky, fast, and relentless breeders. But hey, that’s why we’re here!

Why You Should Act Fast

Rodents aren’t just creepy; they bring a suitcase full of health risks. They carry diseases, stir up allergies, and can make a mess of your food, clothes, and even furniture. Oh, and did we mention they love to gnaw on wires and pipes? That’s right—these little guys can even cause fires by chewing through electrical wires.

Rats and Mice have long been documented as carriers of serious disease and parasites like fleas and ticks. Some of the diseases carried by them are:

  • Lymphocytic choriomeningitis, or LCM – A viral infection that can cause fever, malaise, lack of appetite, muscle aches, headache, nausea and vomiting.
  • Salmonella – A bacterial infection that can cause diarrhoea, fever and abdominal cramps.
  • Mycoplasma – A type of bacteria which is known to cause respiratory problems and pneumonia.
  • Leptospirosis – A bacterial disease that can cause high fever, severe headache, chills, muscle aches and vomiting.
  • Dysentery – A gastrointestinal disorder that causes abdominal pain and cramps. Along with diseases, ticks and fleas, Rats and Mice can contaminate food.

Why do I have rodents?

Rodents naturally live outside, but when it cools down in Autumn, they seek warmer homes often inside houses. Commonly there is no food or water inside these structures, but they are warm and dry. It can be as simple as a tree touching a roofline that allows roof rats or mice into a house. Once they are on the roofline, they can always get inside the attic space. Mice commonly invade via garage doors in houses with concrete floors and attached garages.

Spotting a Rodent Invasion

Think you might have uninvited guests? Keep an eye (and nose) out for these signs:

  • Droppings: Tiny black pellets—mice leave small ones (~5mm), rats leave bigger (~15mm).
  • Smells: A strong, ammonia-like odour is a dead giveaway.
  • Noises: Scratching and scurrying, especially at night, might just mean you’ve got company in your walls or ceiling.
  • Gnaw Marks: Rodents are born to chew—on wood, plastic, cables, you name it.
  • Nests: Paper, fabrics, and other shredded stuff hidden away in cozy spots like ceiling spaces or garages.
