The Argentine ant is one of the most successful "tramp species" of ants. Meaning they are really good at hitch hiking, as a result they have spread around the world.
To understand the Argentine ant, you most consider where they come from. Argentina is in South America and is situated east of Andes mountain range. As the prevailing weather pattern comes from the West, the country is most dry and warm. The argentine ant looks for these conditions in your property. As a result the are commonly found under weed mats in gardens, retaining walls and pot plants to name a few places. These areas all have in common that are warm and dry.
- The Argentine ant. A brown medium sized ant. These ants love protein and fatty food. As a result they are often found in the pet food or the dish washer, which is very annoying for customers and their pets!
- They can trail for long distances up to 300 metres, and are great climbers. Often people see strong trail on the upper skirtings of their home.
- They always nest outside. You will only find an inside nest where there the building is open to exterior e.g. construction or alterations.
- They bite! These can be felt as a small nip. The bites get infected as they have bacteria and fungi on their jaws. The bites turn into small red inflamed bites.

Depending on how large your home or business is will affect the time of treatment. An average three bedroom single level home will take 40 minutes ( estimate).
